We connected to our router in 5GHz, and our steam PC was connected to the network via Gigabit Ethernet. We tested the setup with The Ascent and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalkersaga. To play our games we’ll use a Bluetooth controller. In this guide we set up a Chromebook (we tested on the Lenovo Duet) for the Android Steam Link client and will connect to the Windows Windows computer. We also can run Android apps like Chrome and Linux, allowing for a flexible platform for very little money. We can run Linux on Chrome without having to hack. Linux’s OS consists mostly of those inside the Chrome browser. Steam Link runs on a number of devices, so you can even install Steam Link on Raspberry Pi, but handily for us there is also an Android client that we can use with a compatible Chrome OS device.Ī newer Chrome OS is a very interesting mix. It’s just a client that sends feedback to the Steam PC and receives video of the player, which gives him the ability to play their games remotely. SteamLink is an application that connects a compatible device to a mobile computer that runs Steam. Sure we can play a few web games, but AAA games on a $200 instrument won’t cut it, except for a little creativity. Chromebooks are really not gaming devices.
